2010 EDUCATION
PROGRAMME |
|
The Gatekeeper Trust is an
Educational Charity, and its objectives as stated in the original Charity
Commission document are: |
|
“the advancement of education for
the benefit of the public, with particular reference to the study and
investigation of the origin and significance of temples generally,
landscape temples, holy places, earth structures and their layout and all
beneficial forms of natural and metaphysical study, including the
association of butterflies and plants in relation to such
matters.” |
|
Taking this theme of education within such a broad
brief, we have also decided to add a series of participatory workshops
each year to our already extensive programme. These workshops will allow us to
explore a wide range of topics in much greater depth, and will give us the
opportunity to work with teachers at the leading edge in their own
fields. This idea will bring
us back in line with the original objectives of the Trust, and give many
more events in which members can participate. |
|
Workshops in the Education Programme will run from
10am to 5pm, and will cost £35 for the day, including refreshments, but
excluding lunch. |

‘TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A
SEASON…… and a time to every purpose under
Heaven’
|
|
Saturday 22 March 2010 |
|
Malvern, Worcestershire
|
|
All life is cyclical, growth and harvest, flower and seed. This workshop is about understanding the cycles of life within ourselves and our lives, the cycles within our gardens, the land and the landscape, and the cycles within our decisions and our society. In this one-day workshop, we will work with the alchemical Wheel of Life, and through our observation of the living world, we will reconnect to the natural rhythms of the Earth, Moon and Sun, and the four elements of earth, water, air and fire, the turning of the year, life flowing ever onwards. This endless cycle of birth and death and rebirth has been symbolised since ancient times by the Sun God, the Green Man, John Barleycorn, the song of the Earth, of Demeter, the song of the hearth, of Hestia, and the song of the heart, of Venus. Our exploration of the garden within, understanding the landscape of our hearts, will allow us to reclaim our place within the web of life, within our world and within the Garden of Eden. |

SACRED
GEOMETRY, SACRED SPACE |
|
Saturday 29 May 2010 |
|
Malvern,
Worcestershire |
|
This experiential workshop will explore how, with only the simple tools of compasses and square, the tools of the freemason, patterns can be drawn that can be easily developed into the working drawings for some of the great cathedrals and ancient monuments of the western world. We will feel and look at what makes a space ‘sacred’, and how we can replicate that in our own homes, our gardens or in the landscape. In the course of the day, we will create our own rose windows, gothic arches, and set out the geometry on the land for our own flattened Type B stone circle. No mathematical knowledge is needed, just an open mind and a willingness to have fun. |

HEALING ALTARS IN THE
LANDSCAPE – WARWICKSHIRE/OXFORDSHIRE |
|
Saturday, 10 July 2010 |
|
Chipping Camden,
Oxfordshire |
|
We are pilgrims on a path
of creative synthesis in a new world of technology and global
communication. Our yearning is to healing our connection with the land,
our ancestors and our inner wisdom. Making Healing Altars is a powerful
way of way of healing separation and blessing our world. We use expressive arts to empower
our creative self to awaken more fully to our soul purpose, through
creating symbols for our loving imagination and intention. On this day we honour our
ancestral past - collective ‘soul knowing’ - and the wisdom in the
landscape, through mandala, poetry, sound dance or creative journal, as a
way of restoring and reconnecting with our own creative potencies in the
present. |
