Travel to St Michael’s Mount for the Michaelmas service in the castle chapel, and visit the site of the apparition of St Michael in 495AD; picnic lunch, then travel by car to Chapel Carn Brea near Lands End. An exploration North Lincolnshire, including the Alkborough Maze, and the dragon of Dragonby, a 90ft stone iron-age fire-breathing beast who guards the earliest iron works in Britain. Meet 12noon for lunch, a short talk and exploration of both sites. Walking distance is about 1 mile, with a 10 mile drive between sites.

THE FLEET RIVER PILGRIMAGE

Kenwood House, Hampstead

This pilgrimage will start with a talk about London’s sacred river, the Fleet, which was said to fall ‘from a higher grace than any of its sister streams’. We will visit the sources of the Fleet and follow the course of the river, detailing the many wells and healing spas that used to thrive along its course, including the 18th Century water temple at Kenwood, where we will taste its chalybeate waters. We finish on Parliament Hill with an overview of the whole Fleet River system as it flows to the Thames below. Aidan Dun will share his understanding of the sacred landscape of London, the subject of his epic poem ‘Vale Royale’. Meet at 1pm at the cloister at Kenwood House. This walk will complement and inform Anthony’s presentation at the Winter Conference 2008.

WILTSHIRE 

PILGRIMAGE ON CLEY HILL

We honour our ancestors through silent walk, and celebration at the top with spontaneous mandala creation, rhythm and sound. As the alta major point of the Wessex landscape temple, it is a receptive area for higher guidance, and connects with the visualisation at the ‘third eye’ landscape of Avebury-Marlborough-Stonehenge. Meet at the car-park at 11am, bring picnic and be prepared for a steep hill walk of 20 minutes.

When booking any pilgrimage, it is essential that you are open and clear about your level of fitness, so that suitable arrangements can be made if needed.  Pilgrimages are flexible and usually can be adapted to include all levels of fitness, but it is ESSENTIAL that you inform the organiser at least a week ahead of the time of the pilgrimage. People coming on pilgrimages do so at their own risk and The Gatekeeper Trust cannot be held liable for those who come under-equipped, inappropriately dressed, or who take unnecessary risks.

Every effort is made to ensure that details of the events are correct at time of publication, but we reserve the right to change details without notice. There will be a charge for all events and pilgrimages.
